In short. Audiosocket is a sync licensing company. You apply with four original songs, and it aims to answer within 90 days. You choose whether to be considered for its non-exclusive catalog or its exclusive one, ASX. Audiosocket runs Content ID itself for every track it represents. So it cannot take a track that another company manages on YouTube.

How to join

The registration page asks you to "upload four original songs (no covers)". It says: "We do NOT accept covers, tracks with samples, or AI generated music." Your music must be "100% original and fully owned by you."

On timing, it says: "We'll get back to you within 90 days." The help center adds that Audiosocket is "highly selective". It asks you to send only your strongest material. If you write in very different genres, or under another artist name, a separate submission may make sense.

Exclusive or not

There are two catalogs: Audiosocket and ASX (Audiosocket Exclusives). You say which one you want when you apply. The registration page, as of October 2026:

  • Non-exclusive, 25/75. You "can license your music to other companies or projects at any time." In its words: "We commission 75% of the upfront fee (gross licensing fee) and publishing royalties and you receive 25% of the upfront fee and 100% of the writer's share of royalties."
  • Exclusive, 50/50. Audiosocket and you "share equally in upfront licensing fees as well as backend royalties." Audiosocket is then your only licensing company, and your music goes out through its sub-publishers abroad.

One help page describes the publisher side of the non-exclusive deal as "50/50 with your publisher". The registration page says 75% of publishing royalties. Check the number in your agreement. In both deals, "You retain ownership of your music and your copyright."

AI-generated music

Audiosocket does not accept "fully AI-generated tracks created from prompts" or "tracks where AI determines the melody, composition, lyrics, vocals, or core structure". It does allow AI for sound design, for mixing, mastering, cleanup or repair, and for rough ideas that you then rewrite.

There is also an optional Generative AI Addendum. If you opt in, your music may be licensed to train AI systems, and you share in that revenue. "If you do nothing, your music will not be used." You can opt out later for future uses, but "Models already trained are not retrained."

Files and metadata

  • Final 44.1 kHz WAV or AIFF files. File names must match the track details you enter in the portal.
  • Include instrumentals and alternate versions. Keep stems ready, as Audiosocket may ask for them separately.
  • Label versions clearly: "Song Title (Vocal)", "Song Title (Instrumental)", "Song Title (Clean)".

Codes, Content ID and royalties

  • Content ID. "Audiosocket administers Content ID and similar rights management systems directly for all tracks we represent." It says: "We cannot support tracks that are managed by third-party administrators or excluded from these systems." If your distributor manages a track, Audiosocket "may be able to help with a transfer".
  • PRO. Audiosocket recommends joining a PRO. For its placements, it "may register tracks through our publishing channel using the existing song title along with Audiosocket's internal identifiers". It "does not change the name of your song". It has publishing entities with ASCAP, BMI and SESAC.

How you are paid

Statements and payments come twice a year, in February and August, once you pass $25. Most clients report quarterly or yearly, so earnings show up only with each statement.

What to keep in your catalog

  • The deal for each track: non-exclusive or ASX exclusive.
  • Who runs Content ID for it. For Audiosocket tracks that is Audiosocket, so note any track you moved away from your distributor.
  • The exact version titles you delivered, such as "(Instrumental)" and "(Clean)".
  • Whether you opted in to the AI addendum, and when.
  • The date you applied, the four songs you sent and the answer.
