BeatStars for producers
BeatStars is a marketplace where producers lease and sell beats under their own license terms. Here is how it works for sellers, as of October 2026.

In short. BeatStars lets you sell non-exclusive leases of a beat to many artists, and one exclusive license. It takes 0% of beat sales. Buyers on the Marketplace pay a 12% service fee on top. Leases sold before an exclusive stay valid. BeatStars removes only the original beat after an exclusive sale on its site, and you must remove every other version yourself. Its own Content ID service ended in January 2026.
How to join
A free account lets you listen. To upload and sell, you need a paid plan. When checked on 26 October 2026:
- Starter: $19.99 a year or $4.99 a month.
- Growth: $79.99 a year or $8.99 a month.
- Professional: $179.88 a year or $19.99 a month.
All three allow an unlimited number of beats. If you go back to a free account, it is limited to 10 tracks. Resubscribe within 30 days to keep all your content.
Exclusive or not
You choose per beat. BeatStars generates a license for each sale from your settings.
- Non-exclusive license (lease). The buyer makes and releases new music on your beat, within your limits. You keep ownership and can keep selling it.
- Exclusive license. It "transfers your rights in the master recording to the buyer, as outlined in the agreement". The composition is covered separately.
- Free download. Personal use only. No releases, no sync.
- $0 commercial license. Non-exclusive, no upfront fee. The agreement may give you a share of Net Receipts from the new master.
"Any non-exclusive licenses you issued before the exclusive sale remain valid." BeatStars notes that producers can change its default terms.
After an exclusive sale. If the exclusive is bought on BeatStars, the original track comes off the Marketplace and Pro Pages automatically. If you sell it elsewhere, you remove it by hand. BeatStars never removes other versions: a version with a hook, a remix, a collaborator's upload. "All versions are required to be removed from our site." See Beat lease vs exclusive.
AI-generated music
We found no BeatStars rule on selling beats made with AI. What BeatStars does say:
- Every track uploaded to BeatStars is opted out of third-party AI training by default, through a partnership with Sureel.
- It runs its own opt-in program to train BeatStars AI models. Opting in covers all music on your account. You can opt out later, but models already trained keep what they learned.
Codes, Content ID and royalties
Content ID. BeatStars' Content ID & More service took no new tracks after 8 December 2025. Enrolled tracks were removed from YouTube, Meta and TikTok by 14 January 2026. Royalties from past claims can still come in for up to a year after removal. BeatStars says it is "evaluating new options". If you register beats elsewhere, the general rules apply: YouTube Content ID.
BeatStars Publishing. It is an "Exclusive Administration Agreement" for your compositions. A track must be on Spotify before you can register it. Registered songs also go into BeatStars' publishing system on YouTube.
Beat ID. It scans YouTube, Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok for uploads of your track and links you to each one.
How you are paid
"BeatStars takes 0% from beat sales on our platform." On Marketplace purchases, the buyer pays a 12% service fee on the subtotal. It does not apply on Pro Pages or Blaze Players. You can choose to cover the fee for your buyers, and then it comes out of your sale. Payments go straight to the PayPal or Stripe account you connected.
What to keep in your catalog
- Each sale: the beat, the buyer, the license type, the date and the limits from your license settings.
- Every version of each beat and where it is listed, on BeatStars and elsewhere. After an exclusive sale, all of them must come down.
- The exclusive buyer, the date, and how many leases were sold before it.
- Beats that were in Content ID & More, and the date they came out.
- Compositions in BeatStars Publishing. That deal is exclusive administration.
