In short. AudioSparx is a music and sound effects licensing site. You create an account and apply as an artist, and AudioSparx decides on each application. The license is non-exclusive, so the same tracks can be sold elsewhere. But it is perpetual: what you upload stays licensed to AudioSparx forever, and takedowns are not allowed. AI-assisted music is accepted when there is enough human work in it to have copyright. Pure AI output is not.

How to join

You create an account, then send an artist application from the Submit Music page. The vendor agreement says AudioSparx reviews each application and may accept or reject it at its own discretion.

Exclusive or not

Non-exclusive, but permanent. AudioSparx describes its license as "a perpetual non-exclusive license, which means that any tracks you upload are licensed to AudioSparx forever and no takedowns are permitted." You keep the copyright in your tracks.

This matters more than on most stock sites. A track you send here can never be cleared for an exclusive deal later. Decide track by track before you upload. See Exclusive or non-exclusive.

AI-generated music

Accepted, with limits. AudioSparx's help article on AI-assisted music says each track needs enough human work to have copyright. Pure AI output is not allowed. You do not need to mark AI tracks.

AudioSparx treats the upload of an AI-assisted track as your confirmation that you hold all the commercial rights to it. Check that your AI tool's plan allows full commercial use.

AudioSparx also licenses music and sound effects for AI training. It has a page about this on its site. Read the agreement to see what your tracks can be used for.

Codes, Content ID and royalties

AudioSparx's vendor agreement says performance royalties for broadcast uses are paid to composers directly by their performing rights organization, not by AudioSparx. Register your tracks with your society to collect them. See Registering library music with your PRO.

How you are paid

  • Share. The vendor agreement sets royalties at 40% of gross licensing revenue from licenses sold to clients and through distributors.
  • When. Once your royalties reach $25, AudioSparx pays within 45 days after the end of each calendar quarter.
  • How. By PayPal.

What to keep in your catalog

  • The date each track went to AudioSparx. The license has no end, so the track is never free for an exclusive deal again.
  • The application answer and its date.
  • For AI-assisted tracks, what you did by hand: the parts you wrote, played or arranged.
  • The PRO registration of each track, since broadcast royalties come from your society.
