In short. UnitedMasters sends releases to more than 35 music services on a yearly plan, and you keep 100% of royalties. Content ID is an add-on: $4.99 per release, and UnitedMasters keeps 20%. Tracks built on non-exclusive beats or library loops can't go in. AI music is allowed if you had commercial rights to it on the day you made it. The Beat Exchange, its store for selling beats, closed on 15 July 2026.

How to join

Anyone can make an account. When checked on 26 October 2026:

  • DEBUT: free. It lets you receive royalty splits from other artists and work as a team member on their accounts.
  • DEBUT+: $19.99 a year. Unlimited releases, reviewed within 5 business days.
  • SELECT: $59.99 a year. Releases reviewed within 2 business days, plus brand and sync opportunities.
  • PARTNER: by invitation only.

Beats on UnitedMasters

The Beat Exchange was discontinued on 15 July 2026. Producer accounts closed the same day. Uploaded beats were deleted from the UnitedMasters system.

UnitedMasters' fingerprinting often flags releases built on non-exclusive beats. An artist then has to send the beat license and any sample clearance. If the release is already live, there are three business days to send them. This is worth knowing if you lease beats: the artist's license from you is what they will send. See Beat lease vs exclusive.

AI-generated music

Allowed if the release follows the Terms of Service. The rules:

  • No unauthorized AI voices of famous people or artists. No AI beats that copy copyrighted songs.
  • You must have commercial rights to what you upload. "For tools like Suno, this means you had an active paid subscription when the track was created."
  • Many AI uploads at once can be flagged as spam.
  • Keep subscription receipts, creation dates and drafts, UnitedMasters advises.

Fully AI vocals or instrumentals can't be monetized on Meta and TikTok. For Content ID, UnitedMasters says AI content is "viable" if it does not break YouTube's Community Guidelines. More in Can you sell AI music?

Codes, Content ID and royalties

ISRC and UPC. If a track has no ISRC, UnitedMasters assigns one on approval. It issues a UPC for every release it delivers.

Content ID. For DEBUT+, SELECT and PARTNER artists. You opt in after the release is delivered to YouTube. It costs $4.99 per release, with no refund if some tracks turn out ineligible. Meta and TikTok cost $2.99 each, or $7.99 for all three. Content ID does not collect money from the past. Claims start with new uploads after you opt in.

When you opt in, you confirm, among other things:

  • you are the sole creator and owner of all sounds and compositions;
  • no samples or loops from libraries "including Epidemic Sound, GarageBand";
  • "I, and only I, will be responsible for adding this single to YouTube's Content ID system";
  • no other distributor, such as DistroKid, TuneCore or CD Baby, has sent it to Content ID.

Non-exclusive beats, such as ones licensed on BeatStars, are not eligible.

Allowlisting. UnitedMasters can allowlist your own YouTube channel. Send the channel link to support. Its pages don't say whether it will allowlist a buyer's channel, so ask before you opt in a track that others license from you. You can ask to take a track out of Content ID. Then existing claims "may be released".

How you are paid

You keep 100% of your royalties on DEBUT+ and SELECT. UnitedMasters keeps 20% of the gross royalties from Content ID. Content ID money arrives in your monthly payments as "YouTube Content ID Payouts".

What to keep in your catalog

  • The ISRC and UPC UnitedMasters assigned to each release.
  • Which releases you opted into Content ID, Meta or TikTok, and the date. A taken-down release has to be bought and opted in again.
  • If you lease beats: the license and sample paperwork your buyers may be asked for.
  • If you sold beats on the Beat Exchange: the sales, buyers and licenses. The beats on that store were deleted.
  • For AI tracks: the tool, your plan on the day, and the date you made each one.
