AudioJungle and Motion Array titles, tags and file names in 2026

Envato search now reads the meaning of your words, and Motion Array asks for the opposite kind of title. Here are the rules of both, and how to write words that work on each.

In short. Envato search now understands what words mean, so synonyms in tags add nothing. On AudioJungle, a plain descriptive title of 2 to 4 words works best: a mood, a style and a use. Use each tag for a new side of the track: mood, genre, instrument, use and image. Motion Array wants the opposite title: a unique, artistic one, like a song on an album. So one track ends up with two titles and two sets of file names, and you need to keep both.

How Envato search reads your words

Envato search used to match words. A buyer typed "happy", and the search looked for "happy" in titles and tags.

Now it reads the meaning. Envato started this search for audio in January 2025. It reads your title and tags and works out what the track is: its mood, its style, where it fits. It reads the buyer's search the same way. Then it shows tracks with a close meaning.

Three things follow from this. Envato support explained them to an author in 2026:

  • Synonyms add nothing. The search already knows that happy, joyful and cheerful mean nearly the same. Five of them in your tags say one thing five times.
  • Clear words beat clever words. A title like "Uplifting Corporate Motivation" tells the search what the track is. A title like "Soaring Dreams" tells it almost nothing.
  • Different words beat repeated words. Each tag should add a new side of the track: a mood, a genre, an instrument, a use, an image.

Buyers also find music in other ways now. They can search for a track that sounds like a song they name. They can search by author with @. They can even search the catalog from an AI assistant. All of these read the same words: your title, tags and description.

AudioJungle titles

What works

A descriptive title of 2 to 4 words: what the track feels like, what it sounds like, and what it is for.

  • mood + style: Melancholic Piano, Epic Cinematic Trailer
  • mood + use: Inspiring Real Estate Corporate
  • instrument + mood: Upbeat Acoustic Ukulele

Put the most important word first. Envato says the title becomes the page title in Google, and Google shows only the first 50 to 60 characters.

The rules

From Envato's own requirements, as of October 2026:

  • Unique. No two items may have the exact same title. Don't repeat a title from your own portfolio either.
  • English, Latin letters only, up to 100 characters, in Title Case: Main Words With Capitals.
  • 4 to 5 words at most for a descriptive title.
  • One kind of title, not both. Not "The Calling - Dark Cinematic Mysterious".
  • No repeated words, and no words with the same root: not "Jazz for Jazz".
  • No "Music" when it only describes: not "Epic Christmas Music". Reviewers don't always apply this one, but it is the rule.
  • No banned words: Amazing, Awesome, Best, Bundle, Discount, Free, Premium, Pro, Ultimate.
  • No names of films, bands, artists or famous songs, and no username.
  • No platform names. In 2025, authors were asked to rename tracks with YouTube, TikTok, Instagram or Reels in the title or tags, and some items were disabled. Envato treats these as other companies' trademarks.

A creative title is still allowed. It just gives the search very little to work with.

AudioJungle tags

The rules

Envato rewrote its tag rules in June 2026. As of October 2026:

  • 5 to 30 tags, in lowercase, in American English.
  • A word may appear in no more than two tags. christmas and christmas tree is fine. Add christmas party and it is keyword stuffing.
  • Words with the same root count as one word. inspire, inspiring, inspirational and inspiration are one word.
  • Only two different words may repeat at all. A third repeated word breaks the rule.
  • Short forms count as the full word. Xmas is Christmas.
  • Made-up forms are not allowed. Not backgrounder or backgrounding.
  • The same word in another language counts as the same word. Christmas, Noël and Navidad are one word.
  • Don't use the same tags on all your items, and no category names, author names or banned words.

What works

The rules allow one repeat of a root: inspiring and inspirational is fine. But with search by meaning, the second word adds nothing. Use the slot for something new.

Cover five sides of the track, a few tags each:

Side What it answers Examples
Mood How does it feel? hopeful, tense, calm, playful
Genre and style What kind of music is it? corporate, folk, lo-fi, trailer
Instruments What do you hear? piano, ukulele, strings, claps
Use What video is it for? advertising, documentary, explainer, real estate, wedding
Image What picture does it bring? journey, sunrise, celebration, city at night

Two more rules from Envato support:

  • Don't repeat title words in tags. If the title says "Upbeat Acoustic", leave upbeat and acoustic out of the tags. Use acoustic guitar or ukulele instead.
  • Many words for one business idea are one idea. business, corporate, commercial and marketing all say the same thing. Keep one or two.

You don't have to use all 30 tags. Envato says relevance matters more than the number.

Before and after

An example in the style Envato support uses, on a made-up track:

Before. Title: Bright Horizons. Tags: inspiration, inspirational, inspiring, motivation, motivational, positive, optimistic, upbeat, uplifting, business, corporate, commercial, success, successful, hope, hopeful.

That is 16 tags and about 6 ideas. Three roots repeat more than the rules allow. The title says nothing about the music.

After. Title: Inspiring Acoustic Corporate. Tags: piano, guitar, strings, hopeful, soft, success, advertising, presentation, explainer, documentary, real estate, startup, coaching, journey, sunrise, achievement.

The same 16 tags now carry 16 ideas. The title words don't repeat in the tags. Every side of the track is covered once.

None of this guarantees sales. A lot depends on luck and timing. Try both kinds of titles and different sets of tags, and watch what sells.

The AudioJungle upload form, field by field

This is the form for a music item as of October 2026, in the order it asks.

Before the form

Choose the Music category and click Next. Above the button the page says how many items you can still upload this month.

Envato limits music uploads by your approval rate. If less than 70% of your tracks are approved, you can upload 2 a month. At 70% or more, you can upload 30. A rejection costs more than one track. What to do after one: Why stock sites reject music.

Name and description

  • Name: up to 100 characters, no HTML, no emoji. The rules are in the sections above.
  • Description: the form says this field is used for search, so be descriptive. Write a few plain sentences about the sound and the use. Then list the versions with their lengths. Since 30 June 2026, no links to the same track on another site or on your own site. Links to your social media are allowed.

Files

Field What goes in
Thumbnail Optional. JPEG or PNG, 80 × 80 px.
Audio Preview The MP3 buyers hear, with the AudioJungle watermark.
Main File(s) One ZIP with every file for the buyer: the versions, and the stems if you have them. Not the preview.

The main file can be up to 1 GB after it is compressed. You can also send files by FTP, then pick them in the upload form within 24 hours. There is no separate field for stems: they go in the ZIP. See Versions, cutdowns and stems.

Category and attributes

Buyers filter by these fields. An empty or wrong one drops the track from a filter.

Field What to put
Category The genre. AudioJungle has no separate mood or instrument fields: tags do that job.
Looped Audio Yes only if the track loops seamlessly.
Audio Files Included MP3, WAV or both, as in your ZIP.
Vocals No Vocals, or every kind you have: lead, background, female, male, vocal samples. Vocals must be in English, with a few exceptions.
Bit Rate and Sample Rate 320 kbps for MP3, 16-bit stereo 44.1 kHz. No exceptions.
Main Track Length Like 2:30. The field accepts up to 30:00, but a single music track may be 10 minutes at most.
Additional Track Lengths The lengths of the other versions: 1:00, 0:30, 0:15.
Composer and Publisher Mainly for authors in a performing rights society.
Tempo (BPM) 1 to 250, or Varies when the tempo changes.
YouTube Content ID Registered or not, and with whom: HAAWK (Identifyy), Epic Elite, HEXACORP (Orfium), FUGA (AdRev), Frequency Digital, or another company.

The form has no question about AI. Envato does not accept AI-generated music as an item or its main part.

Tags

The form asks for up to 30 keywords in lowercase, separated by commas, covering instruments, genre, mood and subject. The rules are in the tags section above.

Price

You set the item price. Envato adds a buyer fee on top. The form shows a recommended purchase price for each license:

License Buyer fee Recommended purchase price
Music Standard $4 $15 to $20
Music Broadcast (1 million) $8 $30 to $40
Music Mass Reproduction $16 $60 to $80
Music Broadcast (10 million) $32 $120 to $160
Music Broadcast & Film $64 $240 to $320

Since 1 July 2026, Envato keeps 50% of the item price for every author. The link "How much of this will I earn?" next to each price does the math.

Message to the reviewer

An optional note. Use it when something in the track needs a word: a vocal in another language, a sound that may look like a sample.

After you submit

Envato says review takes up to 14 days. In practice it often takes about a week, and it varies. When the track is approved, an author on Envato Elements can also add it to Elements: the option appears in the item's settings after approval.

Motion Array: the opposite title

Motion Array asks for a different kind of title. From its upload rules, updated in September 2025:

  • No generic titles. Motion Array wants "a unique and artistic title", the way it would appear on an album.
  • A reviewer can ask for a new title if yours is too common or generic.
  • Tags: unique and searchable, one word each where you can. Leave out the obvious.
  • Description: short, with about three words each for the mood and style, the main instruments and the main uses. No keyword stuffing. List the versions in the package.
  • File names: MA_ContributorName_ProductName_Version, with no spaces, no punctuation and no non-English letters.

So the track from the example above could be "Inspiring Acoustic Corporate" on AudioJungle and "Bright Horizons" on Motion Array. Both titles are right, each for its own site.

As of October 2026, Motion Array is not taking new artists. These rules are for artists who already sell there.

File names

Both sites check the names of the files in your package. Each has its own pattern.

AudioJungle

Envato's pattern has four parts, joined by _: your username, the track title, the type with a number, and a label. Spaces in the title become -.

Type Label Example
main full yourname_bright-horizons_main-01_full.wav
main instrumental yourname_bright-horizons_main-02_instrumental.wav
short the length yourname_bright-horizons_short-01_30sec.wav
loop the part, if you need one yourname_bright-horizons_loop-01.wav
stem the instrument yourname_bright-horizons_stem-01_drums.wav

The numbers set the order. Envato may play the versions on the item page in that order.

Motion Array

Motion Array's pattern is MA_ContributorName_ProductName_Version. No spaces, no punctuation, no non-English letters. Stems add _Stem_StemName at the end.

  • MA_YourName_BrightHorizons_main.wav
  • MA_YourName_BrightHorizons_short30.wav
  • MA_YourName_BrightHorizons_main_Stem_Drums.wav

With six versions on two sites, one track needs twelve file names. Typing them by hand is where typos come from, and a typo can send a track back.

Keep a record of both titles

One track with two titles is easy to lose. A buyer writes about "Bright Horizons", and you search your AudioJungle sales for it. A Content ID claim names one title, and the other site knows the track by another. Motion Array even asks for the track's original name when it is registered in Content ID.

For every track, write down its main title and the title on each site. See Retitling: when one track has several titles.
