First minutes
Your first session, step by step. Add a track, mark where it is, see what still needs uploading, find any track and keep a copy of your catalog.
The first time you open tracklog, short hints show you around the window. Skip turns them off. To see them again, open Settings → Appearance and turn on Show hints.
1. Add a track
Click Add track in the sidebar, or press ⌘ + N. Type the title.
If the track is finished, click Ready and pick its list. It gets the next catalog number. If you are still writing it, leave it In progress. Then it only needs a working title.
tracklog warns about repeated titles while you type. It also checks names used on platforms. Check this before you offer a track exclusively.
2. Mark where it is
The track card opens on the right. It has a line for every platform of the list.
Click a status to switch between Live and To upload. To pick any other status, right-click it.
| Status | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Live | Published there |
| To upload | You plan to send it there |
| Review | Sent, waiting for approval |
| Reject | Sent, not accepted |
| Not marked | Nothing recorded, or you don’t send it there |
3. See what is not live yet
Click Platforms above the tracks and choose Not live yet. Tick the platforms you want to check.
Now the list shows only the tracks that still need uploading there. Each list remembers its own filters.
4. Find a track
Press ⌘ + F and type. Search looks at titles, genres, moods, descriptions, notes, tags, codes and releases.
5. Keep a copy of your catalog
tracklog saves a copy of your catalog every time it starts. To save one right now, open Settings → Backups and click Back up now.
Your catalog file must not live in iCloud or Dropbox. Only copies go there. In Settings → Backups, click Choose folder… and pick iCloud, Dropbox or an external drive. Then a copy goes there every time tracklog starts.
